Funding boost for youth

BORONIA’S young people will receive a $184,000 State Government cash boost.
Youth Affairs Minister James Merlino last Wednesday 8 July announced the Youth Foundations Victoria (YFV) funding at Millers Homestead.
Mr Merlino said young people knew what they needed.
“And through this initiative, it is the young people who will make the decisions about how best to assist other young people in their community,” he said.
Through YFV, young people distribute grants to other young people to run activities to benefit their community.
Projects can include murals, online magazines and LandCare groups.
They will learn research, management, leadership and marketing skills with help from the Boronia Local Partnership Group, which includes representatives from a range of organisations.
The initiative’s local partner, the Boronia, Bayswater and Ringwood Private Franchise Bendigo Bank, will contribute an extra $100,000 to the project.
Young people who would like to get involved can contact Knox City Council youth services by calling 9298 8308.
