Police station sold

A LOCAL crime writer is now the proud owner of the old Olinda Police Station.
Bell Real Estate’s Trevor Bell said the station house went up for auction last Saturday.
“It was the most interest I have seen at an auction for a long time,” he said.
Mr Bell said the station house at 65 Olinda-Monbulk Road, sold for $391,000 which was well above the reserve price.
He was unable to reveal the reserve due to privacy reasons.
But Mr Bell said the auction drew more than 100 people and seven interested bidders.
“I think a lot of people were interested because of its history,” he said.
“A local crime writer bought the station and she plans to use the old cell block as her office.”
