WINDERMERE Reserve Pre-schoolers were all smiles last week as news came through their centre could run a kinder class next year.
Knox Council last month (28 July) granted the Ferntree Gully pre-school extra time to find more enrolments to meet requirements.
The centre did not run a pre-school class this year because of low enrolments.
Committee president Emma Raymond said Windermere had since signed up the required 20 pre-schoolers for next year.
“It’s just a relief,” she said.
“The area would be poorer without it.”
Ms Raymond is still keen for more enrolments to further secure the class.
“A local pre-school is just such an important social contact,” she said.
Flamingo, Alexander Magit and Upper Ferntree Gully pre-schools received just enough enrolments to avoid closure next year.
