EMERALD’S State Emergency Service was kept busy over the weekend, after winds of up to 115 km/ph tore through the Dandenongs.
The unit received more than 120 calls for help, with the majority from the Belgrave Heights and Upwey areas. Volunteer Rob Tillman said trees falling across roads were the biggest problem following the wild weather. He said there were also a number of buildings damaged by trees including houses in Belgrave, Kallista and Mt Dandenong.
Mr Tillman said the unit was kept busy on Saturday night and Sunday helping to clear away the mess.
