CHOICE and pathways are the central themes to a new sculpture and mandala exhibition at Burrinja.
Jenny Rowe and Karen Scott’s The Road Not Taken will be on display in the Jarmbi Gallery until 27 September.
The artists took inspiration and the exhibition’s title from the 1916 Robert Frost poem of the same name.
They said the collection illustrated there was no turning back once someone takes a certain road and the past could not be changed.
Rowe has contributed indoor and outdoor ceramic pieces to the exhibition.
She recently spent time rejuvenating a rundown family farm.
“This ‘new’ place full of old things has led me to explore another viewpoint,” she said.
“This body of work is a dialogue about choice, moral and literal pathways and the ubiquitous crossroad.”
Scott is a professional mandala artist and has taught workshops in creating the spiritual-inspired circle-based artworks for 12 years.
“The mandala opened a road for me – a choice to find ‘who I am’ in the way of expressing and interpreting my feelings,” she said.
She said mandalas were like maps of individual journeys.
“They have given me insights, feelings of wellbeing, wholeness and renewal on the pathways of my busy and interesting life,” she said.
