EVERY Saturday arising from the dawn mist and the fresh scent of eucalyptus, and the morning call of the kookaburras, gathers the community of the St Andrews Market.
Local legend has it that the site of the St Andrews Market was used as a local gathering and meeting place for the many indigenous tribes of the local and wider community.
Today this tradition continues with the many stallholders and the market community that gather and reconnect every Saturday.
The St Andrews market is held outside in the beautiful Australian bush.
Visitors are welcome to enjoy the great variety of stalls featuring delicious food, fresh produce, flowers, plants, leather goods, unusual gifts, crystals, new and pre-loved clothing, music, massage, buskers, a chai tent, pony rides, books, CDs, DVDs, organic products, new age readings, and anything else a little outside the square.
The market has recently been renovated, with the addition of a deck overlooking the unique bushland as well as the addition of disabled facilities and parking.
Each year the market committee holds a Christmas twilight market.
This year’s twilight is being held on Monday 21 December from 4pm-9pm.
This market has an extra special atmosphere, as there is a live concert, featuring many local talents, and helps to raise funds for the local community groups within the area.
St Andrews market is open every Saturday from 8am-2pm (except on total fire ban days) at the Mechanics Hall Reserve, opposite the famous St Andrews pub.
No dogs allowed.
