UPWEY Doctors is a family-friendly community clinic that services the local area.
The Upwey practice reopened last March under new management and is now under the ownership of medical director, Dr Varghese Zachariah.
Fondly known as “Zac”, Dr Zachariah has been practising in Victoria, NSW and Canberra for almost a decade, both in general practice and in hospitals and is a familiar name in the hills community through his work at Selby Family Clinic.
With a Diploma in Child Health and a love of working with children, Dr Zachariah is well placed to cope with the many and varying demands of the Hills practice.
Upwey Doctors provides a wide range of health care and services including all general medical care for all ages.
Other services currently offered are:
•minor accident and emergency care including minor fracture management and suturing;
•advice on disease prevention, nutrition, exercise, stress management and maintenance of a healthy lifestyle;
•health screening for high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, prostate, cervical (PAP smears) and breast cancer;
•men’s and women’s health assessments;
•asthma management;
•care plans for referral to Allied Health;
•annual health assessments for the elderly;
•travel medicine including vaccinations;
•immunisations for the young, aged and children;
•family planning and contraceptive advice;
•ante-natal care;
•fitness advice and management of sporting injuries, minor surgical procedures including suturing of wounds, removal of skin lesions and tumours;
•tongue-tie release in newborns;
•treatment of warts, corns and sunspots;
•dermatoscopy-assisted full body skin checks;
•mental health care and referral for psychology and counselling and
•Workcover and TAC-related medical care.
A variety of experienced male and female practitioners and an obstetrician assist at the clinic.
Soft tissue massage therapy is also offered.
Upwey Doctors, at 100 Main Street, Upwey is a mixed billing clinic and bulk bills HCC holders, pensioners and under 16s.

Surgery hours are 9am-7pm Monday, 9am-6pm Tuesday, 9am-9pm Wednesday, 9am-7pm Thursday and 9am-5pm Friday (closed Saturday and Sunday).
