HILLS Year 12 students let down their hair last week to celebrate their final days at school.
The Mail captured all the fun and festivities at Monbulk College, Upwey High School and Emerald College.
Upwey High School students held a morning tea last Wednesday 21 October to thank the school’s staff and presented awards to teachers. A whole-school assembly and fun and games followed.
On Thursday morning the kids cut loose on the school’s oval with shaving cream, silly string and crazy costumes. Teachers were in the firing line with many wearing ear plugs to stop the foam from seeping in when the students struck.
Principal Tom Daly said he wanted the students to celebrate and have a good time.
“It’s all a bit of fun,” he said.
In Monbulk festivities started on Wednesday morning with a dress-up day, followed on Thursday with a mystery tour. The students also held the school’s assembly on Thursday, giving out teacher awards.
Principal Margaret Uren said it was a very entertaining day. The students were well behaved and it was a great way for them to finish their secondary education, she said. Emerald Secondary students also joined in the fun with a breakfast and dress-up day on Thursday.
Principal Wayne Burgess said it was a great day and everyone was really well behaved.
“There was a lot of jumping around and everyone had a bit of fun but there was no damage to the school,” he said. See next week’s edition for more photographs.
