Festival pulls big crowds

MOUNT Dandenong Food and Wine Festival proved to be popular again this year despite the rain.
More than 4000 people turned up for the annual event on Sunday.
The day also marked the 10th birthday for the Dandenong Ranges Veterinary Clinic.
Organiser Angela Onezime said it was amazing to see so many supporting the festival again this year.
She said it wouldn’t have been possible with out the help of major sponsors, Duncan’s Belgrave, the Bendigo Bank, Yarra Ranges Real Estate, the Cuckoo Restaurant, Mount Dandenong Hotel and the Penthouse Apartments.
There was something for everyone to enjoy from food and wine stalls to plenty of entertainment.
Veterinarian Moss Siddle said the reptile display was really popular with visitors, especially the fresh-water crocodile.
“It all went really well despite the rain,” he said.
Mr Siddle said although the final count had not been completed, the day would have raised more than $1500 for the ongoing maintenance of the Howard Norman Playground.
