No break from danger vigilance

FIRE authorities are warning all Victorian holidaymakers to be on high alert this summer.
As temperatures soared in the high 30s last week, residents were being urged to put their fire plans into action.
Temperatures are expected to continue to rise over the next month or so. CFA duty officer Stephen Walls said it was vital residents away on holiday monitored the weather conditions.
“They need to be aware of the fire danger ratings and conditions because they could be different to what they are at home,” he said.
“A bushfire survival plan is just as essential to campers as it is for those at home.”
Mr Walls said those scheduling a trip should review any plans to visit park, forest or bushland areas.
Victorians are warned to monitor the weather and conditions with updated information available from DSE and CFA websites.
