Jazz picks up steam

PUFFING Billy will again keep the entertainment rolling with the popular return of its jazz train.
Good food, wine and entertainment are just the ticket for a great night out this summer.
The Jazz on Puffing Billy Train will depart from Belgrave station throughout the year, starting from 5 February.
Patrons will be entertained with a bit of trumpet and string bass as the Mast Gully Jazz Quartet takes centre stage next month.
Mike Edwards will keep the crowd entertained on clarinet, saxophone and vocals, Graeme Steel on trumpet, Neil Taylor on keyboard and vocal and Noel Dollman on string bass.
From the first boarding call, the night promises to be a toe-tapping experience as the train travels through the picturesque Dandenong Ranges from Belgrave to the historic Nobelius Packing Shed in Emerald.
Pre-dinner drinks and savouries will be served on the journey.
Once at the shed, guests will be treated to a delicious three-course meal with plenty of jazz tunes to keep them entertained.
After dinner, patrons can board the train and it will leave the packing shed at 10.30pm with cheese, coffee, tea, complimentary port and after dinner chocolates also available on the return trip.
Puffing Billy is scheduled to return to Belgrave station at 11.45pm.
The jazz train will also run on 17 April, 9 July and 21 October.
Tickets are now on sale and cost $95 for adults and $50 for children under 12.
For bookings call 9757 0700.
