Out to get flames

NEW fire suppressant FlameOut is described as an environmentally friendly life-saver that should be part of every home’s fire safety kit.
FlameOut is a unique fire-safety concept in Australia providing protection for the home, yard and holiday accommodation.
It’s a non-toxic professional fire fighting foam in a handy domestic-sized container that can be used anywhere there is running water. It simply clicks onto any garden hose.
It can be used with fresh, grey or even salt water providing there is pressure of at least 30 psi.
Users can simply turn on the hose and FlameOut will automatically mix the correct quantity of foam to water, producing a non-hazardous foam that immediately douses the flames.
The product is seven times more effective at extinguishing fires than water alone and is ideal for backyard barbecues, grass fires, wood, paper and unexpected fire emergencies around the home, caravan, tent or boat.
The US Forestry Department has given FlameOut full environmental certification and approved it as non-toxic and non-hazardous. Not only will the product have no detrimental effect on rivers, marine life, people, animals or plant life, but it is also completely biodegradable, leaving no trace after 21 days.
When used indoors, it will be no more harmful than water.
FlameOut attacks fires in three distinct ways – it starves it of oxygen and fuel and increases the water’s cooling and penetrative properties.
The 946ml FlameOut container comes complete with garden hose connection and nozzle.
Each container provides coverage of 500 square metres or up to six minutes of continual use.
This would completely extinguish smaller fires and, in the case of a threatening house fire, give valuable protection while assistance from the fire brigade is sought.
FlameOut retails for $69.95 and has a shelf life of five years. It’s now available nationally from Bunnings Warehouses and other hardware outlets.
