GLOVES and boots will be the attire of choice across the Dandenongs this weekend as residents join a national effort to keep Australia beautiful.
Clean Up Australia Day events are scheduled throughout the hills this Sunday 7 March, which will mark the day’s 20th anniversary.
People can get their hands dirty at Lillydale Lake from 9am to 11am, or tackle the suburb’s Olinda Creek Reserve or Hull Road Wetlands.
Montrose Community Playground, bushland on the corner of Leith Road and Mt Dandenong Road and Richards Reserve will also host clean ups.
Cleaners can lend a hand at Mt Dandenong’s Burkes Lookout from 10.30am to 1pm, Worrell Reserve in Emerald from 9am to 11am, or Charlemont Bush Walk in Olinda from 1.30pm to 3.30pm.
The Upwey township spruce will start outside IGA in Main Street at 9.30am, and continue at Upwey Scout Hall from 2pm to 4pm.
Selby Conservation Reserve will host a clean up from 9.30am to noon.
Tecoma’s Dickinson Street and Blacksmith Way in Belgrave are set for makeovers between 9am and noon.
Students will participate in a national school clean-up day this Friday 5 March.
