Set for wedded bliss

GUM Gully Farm will inspire would-be brides and grooms this weekend with a wedding and special event showcase.
The free open day on Sunday 14 March will run from noon to 5pm at the Silvan South property.
“This will not only provide the perfect opportunity to be inspired for your special day but will also ensure that organising your wedding is as enjoyable as the day itself,” one of the owners Sue Jones said.
Visitors will receive a complimentary glass of champagne and finger-food until 3pm.
They can meet local suppliers, photographers and celebrants and check out the farm’s facilities.
Gum Gully Barn is a cosy mud brick building which can comfortably seat 100 guests and is ideal for weddings, birthdays and other gatherings.
An expansive verandah can cater for up to 170 guests for a cocktail wedding.
Gum Gully Barn provides a comfortable and convenient place for functions in an informal and highly atmospheric setting featuring large posts, heavy beams, pre-used timber and artefacts.
“When you enter the barn, it feels like you have moved back in time,” Sue said.
“It is calming and relaxing, with two huge fireplaces, providing old-world charm and a delightful way of staying warm and cosy in the winter.”
The verandah overlooks green paddocks running down to a gum filled gully and lazy creek.
“We have some very scenic rural settings if you would like to get married outdoors here on the property,” Sue said.
Gum Gully Farm has now joined with Yarra Valley Catering to offer guests even more from their wedding packages.
“With the combination of a beautiful venue in a spectacular location, superb food and wine, unique Australian style and genuinely friendly service, Gum Gully and Yarra Valley Catering has the recipe for a perfect wedding day,” Sue said.
Gum Gully Farm has its own cosy bed and breakfast for the bridal party to use throughout the reception with an option for the bride and groom to stay overnight.
“And we’re always available to answer any questions you may have or to assist you with your wedding planning,” Sue said.
Gum Gully Farm can also cater for children’s parties, kinder visits, school excursions, aged care visits, corporate functions and more. “Cute and cuddly animals await your attention,” Sue said.
“You can bring along your lunch, we’ll supply the tea and coffee and a roaring open fire if the weather isn’t perfect.”
Gum Gully Farm is located at 9 Eleanor Drive, Silvan South.
Readers can call Sue on 9737 9524 or 0418 102 652, send an email to sue@gumgully.com.au or visit www .gumgully.com.au.
