Raiders make their marks

A MOUNT Evelyn man has chased a vandal through the streets following a daring daytime graffiti attack.
The Borang Avenue resident, who asked not to be named, spotted the young man from his kitchen window about 10am on 7 April.
“We’ve got new neighbours and I thought they were putting their street number on their rubbish bin,” he said.
“Then I realised what he was doing.”
The resident rushed outside to confront the vandal, who was of medium height and slim build with black hair and black stretch ear-rings the size of a 10 cent coin.
“I said ‘what are you up to?’ and he stopped and looked around,” the man said.
“I asked him what his name was.”
The vandal said his name was Matt but gave a fake surname before fleeing along Aqueduct Avenue, continuing his graffiti spree on bins and power poles.
The resident reported the crime to Mount Evelyn police and supplied officers with a photo of the vandal’s tag.
He said graffiti was an increasing problem in the area.
“There’s a lot of fairly fresh graffiti that’s appeared over the past month or so,” he said.
Anyone with information should call Mount Evelyn police on 9736 2473.
