Medical director Doctor David Bird prepares an individualised program for each guest and sends reports to their doctors.
“To the best of our knowledge we are the only health retreat where the medical director is a qualified physician,” Mr Mutton said.
“His experience in nutritional medicine and therapeutic treatments will help you to improve your health and maximise the benefits from your stay.
“All staff are well trained and senior therapists are trained nurses.”
Individualised treatments include special diets, massage, clay wraps, poulticing, detox, immunity boosting and hydrotherapy.
Mr Mutton said the high standard of medical care included cardiac and respiratory testing, blood parameter evaluation, consideration of current medications in guests’ therapies and catering for special dietary needs.
Highwood Health Retreat was established in 2006 and is an hour’s drive from Melbourne. “We are happy to collect guests from train station or airport,” Mr Mutton said.
Guests enjoy sumptuous vegetarian meals prepared by a gourmet chef during their stay.
“And we have low rates when compared with our competitors,” Mr Mutton said.
