A taste for learning

Emerald Community House offer cooking classes and cheese-making workshops.Emerald Community House offer cooking classes and cheese-making workshops.

EMERALD Community House has once again delivered a fantastic short-course program, and there’s something for everyone.
Their Chinese-Malaysian cooking class is based on Nonya culture – a fine mix of Malay and Chinese cuisines.
Then there’s the cheese-making workshop, where participants will learn how to make their own cheese from scratch.
“Couple that with a language course in French or Italian, and you will expand your multicultural experiences,” house co-ordinator Mary Farrow said.
Photoshop and ‘sell online’ courses will help participants build a small business.
“Combine that with Adobe InDesign training and you can design a booklet, promotional materials or improved website to attract more business,” Ms Farrow said.
The House is now taking expressions of interest for a term four InDesign course.
“This course is a fraction of the cost of Melbourne courses and you become eligible to buy InDesign Academic version for a fraction of the full retail price,” Ms Farrow said.
For children, there’s the Kid’s Art Studio class and the Guitar for Kids class to develop the extracurricular arts and music talents that lie within each child.
Health and wellbeing courses include Deep Tissue Massage and Naturopathy workshops with well known Eve Brenchley. They’ll provide participants with a certificate of completion and educate them on a healthier lifestyle.
Yoga for fun is a great way to stretch out those shrunken muscle groups and enjoy the experience at the same time.
