ALMOST 500 people made their way around Lillydale Lake last weekend to raise cash and awareness for bowel cancer.
The Run Against Bowel Cancer on 25 July also paid tribute to Mount Evelyn identity Jenny Tesoriero, who lost a 13-month battle with the disease two years ago.
Her daughter Louise Tesoriero organised the event, which raised more than $15,000 for Bowel Cancer Australia.
“I’m rapt with that,” she said.
“It went off without a hitch. There were so many more people than we expected.”
Glad to be surrounded by family and friends on such an emotional day, Ms Tesoriero has organising duties to keep her busy.
Melissa Duncan from Upwey and Tim Norton were the first male and female over the line in the 4km run. Anneli Uys and Upwey’s Kane Wille won the 8km event.
Ms Tesoriero hopes to make the event bigger and better next year.
