Thieves just won’t quit

By Tania Martin
MOUNT Evelyn residents have again been reminded to lock up their homes and cars.
The town’s Neighbourhood Watch group and police said residents were still not heeding the warnings to lock up.
NHW’s Jim Humphrey said residents were still leaving their front doors unlocked, which had led to several home invasions.
“Even if you’re just popping across the road to see a neighbour or taking the kids to school, you need to lock up,” he said.
“These people (thieves) are watching and know when to strike.”
Mr Humphrey said the victims then felt like their homes and cars had been invaded.
He said the solution was simple – remember to lock up.
Mount Evelyn Police have also reminded residents to take more care.
Leading Snr Constable Mark Lancaster said there had been a number of cars broken into recently.
He has urged resident to lock up their cars and warned against parking on the street.
Leading Sen Const Lancaster said motorists should try to park in their driveway if possible.
“They also need to remember not to leave valuables in their cars,” he said.
