Patrizia (Pat) Clark has more than 25 years of experience in the building industry and has recently decided to begin her own practice.
Ms Clark has lived in the Yarra Ranges throughout her building career and she’s un-phased by the challenges that her local terrain presents.
“I thrive on the challenges of building on some of our more difficult sites and slopes,” she said.
Ms Clark, also a member of the Building Designers Association of Victoria, says she intends to specialise in new homes “for clients who are looking for exceptional quality and assistance in good design principles”.
Local teenage girls will have a willing mentor in Ms Clark, who has a keen interest in the community’s youth sector.
She welcomes the opportunity to encourage their interest in building science and design “because girls do it better”, she said.
Although she acknowledges that she’s part of a minority group within the building industry, Ms Clark has no qualms about working in such a male dominated environment.
“The guys are generally great and they readily accept that with experience, knowledge and know-how, the same work can be done by women.”
