CARDINIA’S mobile library is back on the road.
Cardinia Shire mayor Graeme Legge and Minister for Local Government Richard Wynne opened the refurbished Cardinia mobile library on Tuesday.
The mobile library has undergone a complete mechanical refit, improvements to access for people with a disability, new skinning on the exterior and a refurbished interior with new shelving, carpet and a modified desk.
The total value of the project was $98,000 with Cardinia Shire Council contributing $49,000 and Victorian Government matching the funds through its Living Libraries program.
Mayor Graeme Legge said the mobile library was a significant community asset for Cardinia Shire’s rural schools and residents.
The Cardinia mobile library service started in 1973 and the current trailer has been serving the Cardinia Shire community for more than 10 years.
