MOUNT Evelyn RSL will take on a hint of Hawaii this Saturday to raise cash for young Australians in need.
Local resident Sarah Larkins and friends will host a Luau Party on 2 October to fundraise for Youngcare, which supports young Australians stuck living in aged care. Youngcare has declared 1 October Thong Day and encouraged people to hold Thong-a-thon fundraiers on 1, 2 and 3 October.
Organisers say thongs represent youth, freedom, fun and an Australian way of life – all things that young people deserve to experience, regardless of their care needs. They hope Thong Day will raise awareness of their cause. Mount Evelyn partygoers are encouraged to wear thongs and a luau costume. Their $20 cover charge will go directly to Youngcare.
Mount Evelyn RSL is at 49 Birmingham Road, Mount Evelyn. Visit www.youngcare.com.au for details.
