GREEN thumbs can brighten up their garden and give back to the community at Angliss Hospital’s plant sale.
The Upper Ferntree Gully hospital’s auxiliary will host a fundraiser from 9.30am to 4.30pm on Wednesday 6 October at the main entrance on Talaskia Road.
Nurseryman John Vernon has donated plants to help the auxiliary raise cash for the past 15 years.
High quality trees, natives, herbs and flowers are all available at great prices.
Four or five plant sales each year raise more than $1500 for the auxiliary, which doesn’t have a constant revenue scheme and relies on raffles, stalls and grants.
The hospital auxiliary is a volunteer group that has supported the Angliss since it began in 1939, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to help the hospital buy medical equipment.
They’ve sold second-hand clothing at an opportunity shop, held market stalls, catered functions, run the hospital gift shop and sold raffle tickets to fundraise.
The auxiliary is seeking volunteers who can cook, sew, knit, do craft or are willing to help with raffles, stalls, stocktaking, re-stocking shelves in the hospital gift shop and book stand.
The opportunity shop is at Shop 4, 101 Station Street, Ferntree Gully. Volunteers are needed to help run the shop.
Members meet on the fourth Wednesday each month at 10.30am. Subscriptions are $2 per year.
Call auxiliary secretary Maxine Lane on 9758 3087 or president Maureen James on 9763 8463 for details or to lend a hand.
