HYPNOSIS as a form of treatment to help resolve a vast range of issues is gaining more and more validity both in the medical and dental professions as well as in the psychology field, Peacehaven Hypnotherapy’s Elke Effler says.
“Increasingly, the power of the unconscious mind is being recognised and is utilised via hypnosis to heal physical and emotional states,” she said.
Hypnosis has a long history as evidenced in Sanskrit writings, right through to Mesmer in the 1700s, to one of the most respected 20th century practitioners – American psychiatrist and hypnotherapist Dr Milton Erickson.
“Today most hypnotherapists have been influenced by his astonishing work and results,” Ms Effler said.
But many people are still confused about what ‘hypnosis’ really is.
Usually, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis and is something we all do every day, Ms Effler said.
“We daydream, we lose ourselves in our favourite music, book or TV show.”
Meditation and relaxation exercises are also a form of altered state of consciousness and are a narrowing of focus.
Hypnosis is a natural state and most people are able to achieve a deep trance state.
“Therapeutic hypnosis is a safe, effective and powerful tool used to access the client’s unconscious mind to assist him/her to make desired changes – to quit smoking, lift depression, deal with fears and phobias, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and many other issues,” Ms Effler said.
“Hypnosis is an excellent means of discovering the cause of the issues that clients have often grappled with for years.”
“In respect to issues such as smoking, if the client is determined to quit, hypnosis has an excellent success rate and without the side effects that many medications on the market today have.”
Peacehaven Hypnotherapy offers clinical hypnotherapy, family counselling and hypnobirthing classes. Call Elke Effler on 9739 8787 for an appointment.
