The Antiques and Collectables Appraisal Day on Sunday is part of the Yarra Ranges Heritage Network’s celebrations for the Royal Historic Society of Victoria’s History Week.
Yarra Ranges’ 21 historical societies will run displays and presentations to mark the week, which starts on Sunday.
Mooroolbark History Group president Marion Stott said the Antique’s Roadshow-style event would run from 11am to 4pm and feature a different mystery object on each table.
She encouraged people to bring along interesting antiques and collectables, kitchen items, toys, coins, bank notes, military badges, medals, clocks or other objects for appraisal.
Local history displays will also feature.
Ms Stott hoped the activities would raise the profile of local history groups.
“We’re doing it for the kids. We’re doing it for the next generation,” she said.
“It’s so we can get the facts straight and pass it on to the next generation.”
Entry is $2, which includes two appraisals. Call Marion on 9727 8740 for more information.
