Anti-arson bushfire plan

POLICE have new plans to prevent arson this bushfire season.
Operation Firesetter will run throughout Victoria from now until the end of April, targeting suspicious, intentional or reckless bushfire activity.
Police hope intensive patrols in bushfire hotspots to detect and deter arson will significantly reduce that number. Deputy Commissioner Kieran Walshe said the operation would be a permanent fixture in Victoria and appealed for the community to play a role.
“People have an obligation to themselves and to the broader community to come forward if they see anything that doesn’t seem right,” he said.
“If you have concerns about a member of your family, a friend, or colleague, they might need help.”
“Without intervention they may harm others.”
Immediately report any suspicious behaviour to Triple-Zero, including a description of any suspicious cars or vehicles, or call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
