Eagles dare

CRANBOURNE – fired out of the Casey Cardinia league finals in straight sets last season after finishing top of the ladder – opens its 2011 season against neighbours Devon Meadows on Saturday night.
The Eagles are banking on their leadership team taking them to a premiership.
The club has also recruited former Carlton player Lawrence Angwin and Caleb Tiller – while another big year is expected from Justin Berry, last year’s Andrew Dalgleish medallist.
Saturday’s games start at 3pm with the under-18s. The reserves kick off at 5pm, while the league contest starts at 7pm at Casey Fields.
This is a round 18 match and it is being played the week before the season officially kicks off due to ongoing issues over fixturing on the main oval at Casey Fields.
“Cranbourne hopes the community will get behind its local club by ensuring a massive crowd comes and watches some young and talented players,” club manager Sara Wright said.
