POLICE are looking for a man believed to have stolen money from a house in Doveton.
Police said about 4pm on 2 February, a man knocked on a door at a house in Rowan Drive.
An elderly occupant opened the door and the man said he was there to inspect the house and would need $350. The occupant had reportedly said he was a pensioner and did not have the money.
The man entered the house, walked into the bedroom and reportedly said he would need to do some drilling.
He told the occupant to leave the room and then stole a sum of money. He later told the occupant he could not do the necessary work that day and would return on a later date.
The man is described as being of Pacific Island descent and about 40 years old.
Detective Senior Constable Mick Harris warned residents to report suspicious behavior to police.
“We just want to remind people that if they don’t know who is knocking on their door, give us a call,” Det Sen Con Harris said. “Especially for elderly residents, if they feel uncomfortable, let police know the situation.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact Detective Senior Constable Harris at Casey CIU on 9705 3134.
