Arts a winter warmer

THE City of Casey’s Winter Arts Program opened last weekend with an exposition of more than 200 works.
Established and emerging artists were given the opportunity to showcase their work to almost 1000 attendees.
Speaking at the opening of the exposition, City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes praised the event as a success.
“Casey is home to a significant number of extremely talented artists whose works are not often viewed locally and opportunities like this are a step towards changing that,” she said.
Casey artist Elizabeth Thomson said the opportunity to showcase her work was a real morale boost.
The expo also gave emerging artists the chance to interact with professional artists John Thomas and Di King.
Calvin Bell of Provenance Artists Studios in Berwick Springs said the Expo exceeded his expectation and increased the exposure of Casey’s emerging artists.
The Expo was made possible by the Casey Arts Participation Initiative, funded by the Vic Health, and aims to increase wellbeing through participation in the arts.
The Winter Arts Program will include more than 60 council-run and community arts events and activities for people of all ages.
