Feet help fight cancer

NARRE Warren South’s Kristian Walsh is walking for a good cause.
The 38-year-old will be participating in the 13th annual Cancer Council Walk to Work Day on Friday 16 September.
Currently working as an engineer for property insurance company FM Global, Mr Walsh will drive to Richmond station before starting his walk to the office.
The company has agreed to match money raised dollar for dollar and will also be providing a healthy breakfast for everyone involved.
Cancer has touched Mr Walsh personally, which is one of the reasons he decided to take part.
“My wife’s mother passed away six years ago from cancer,” he said.
“We were with her for many weeks when she was in palliative care and towards the end. My uncle also passed away three weeks ago from lung cancer.
“My parents, who are in their sixties, have a group of friends who they’ve known for many years, and cancer’s taken four of them over the last few years.”
He encourages everyone to jump on board.
“I would certainly encourage others, for their own well-being and to help them feel good – donate and help a very worthy cause,” he said.
Gembrook MP Brad Battin will also be joining the likes of those walking to work – he will be walking from Pakenham to his office in Berwick. Anyone interested in participating can visit www.walk.com.au to register for Cancer Council Walk to Work Day.
