LAST year Inga Peulich and the then state Liberal Opposition campaigned across Casey electorates that it would provide an unconditional $24 million Brookland Greens ‘rescue package’ to Casey residents.
Now that it’s in government, the Liberal Party has decided to punish Casey ratepayers and go back on its word.
The local council is now under pressure to maintain its services and local infrastructure without the expected funding that was promised, causing pressure on future rates.
In addition, the Baillieu Government has failed to provide a single extra cent to needed roads funding for the expanding Casey area. This will only make it harder for families across the south-east.
The previous government provided the City of Casey with $20 million to help alleviate the costs of the Brookland Greens landfill problem. It also provided an average of $40 million every year for roads funding across the City of Casey.
The current government has failed to fulfil even its most basic local promises for residents. It must stop avoiding its responsibilities and deliver.
