Tight tussle torture

HEINZ Southern Districts is locked in a tight battle against Doveton after day one of their game at Reedy Reserve.
Doveton was sent in to bat after losing the toss but opener Ryan Hendy and former Victorian Bushranger Jason Arnberger helped build a competitive total.
Hendy (59) and Arnberger (44) provided the backbone for Doveton’s 214.
Justin Davis was the pick of the HSD bowlers with 3/53 and received strong support from Paul Stockdale (3/93).
HSD looked shaky early in their innings, scrambling to 2/27 at stumps.

Hallam-Kalora Park won the toss and elected to bat against Berwick at Arch Brown Reserve.
Nirman Jayasinghe (33) tried to steady the Hallam-Kalora Park ship after losing opening partner Leigh Booth early. But a cool head from middle-order batsman Luke Byron (65 not out) provided the saving grace.
The visitors reached 8/157 at stumps, with Ashley Henry the pick of the Berwick bowlers with 2/36.

@BT Sub Sport News:NARRE WARREN v KEYSBOROUGH

A superb all-round game from Dushan Wickramaratne put Narre Warren in the driver’s seat after the first day’s play in the game against Keysborough at Sweeney Reserve.
The visitors won the toss and chose to bat, but it all went downhill from there, as player-coach Andre Peters (68) was the only batsman to score over 25. Wickramaratne (5/33) proved the destroyer.
In reply, Narre Warren is 2/108 with Shean Vanderwert and man-of-the-moment Wickramaratne the not out batsmen.

St Mary’s won the toss and sent Narre South in at Strathaird Reserve.
It proved to be a good call early as the Narre South top order stumbled.
But a valuable knock from middle-order batsman Ashan Wijayakumara (45) steadied the ship and a quick-fire 21 from Michael Cronin helped bring Narre South’s total up to a competitive 155.
In reply, St Mary’s is 0/8.

@BT Sub Sport News:FOUNTAIN GATE v ST BRIGID’S/ST LOUIS

Five of Fountain Gate’s top six batsmen fired as the home side reached a strong 8/241 at stumps on day one of their match against St Brigid’s/St Louis.
Gary Burniston (62), Stewart Scanlon (31), John Mirranay (36), Stephen White (26), and Daniel Ferguson (28 not out) combined to put their side into a dominant position.
St Brigid’s Jeremy Heys toiled hard with the ball and was rewarded with a spell of 4/68.

Cranbourne’s bowling attack dismantled the Southern Pirates for just 96 on day one of their game at Wachter Reserve
Leigh Taylor (34) provided the only real resistance to Cranbourne’s bowlers as Johan Vorster (3/5) and Robert Cleland (3/17) feasted.
Cranbourne made a solid start in reply, sitting on 1/37.

@BT Sub Sport News:SILVERTON v SPRINGVALE SOUTH

A stoic knock from opener Mark Keatinge (58) helped give his Springvale South side the upper hand in their tussle with Silverton.
Captain Roshan Perera (54) and all-rounder Gavin Fewkes also made valuable runs as Springvale South clamoured to 206.
Silverton got off to a nervous start in their run chase, losing two quick wickets before stumps – both to Gavin Fewkes.
