CASEY residents have been warned to take proper safety precautions to ensure their safe during fire season.
Police Inspector Wayne Viney said wildfire season was quickly approaching and though Casey had not been recognised as a high risk area, it was important that each household developed and practised their fire plan.
“Remember leaving early is always the best option,” Insp Viney said.
“Wildfire can move extremely fast. Ensure you are capable to look after yourself in any wildfire situation and act accordingly.”
Insp Viney said police would be conducting proactive patrols in high risk areas as part of operation Firesetter on severe, extreme and code red days.
“We will also be using our intelligence holdings to target potential over the summer months,” he said.
“If you see anyone acting suspiciously in a fire prone area or have any information regarding possible arsonist I urge you to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Your information could save many lives.”
