APPLICATIONS remain open for Multicultural Community grants until 16 December.
The grants are available to not-for-profit organisations and aim to support the needs of multicultural communities and promote Victoria’s multicultural and multifaith society.
Grants of up to $5000 are available for organisational support, grants of up to $20,000 for Strengthening Multicultural Communities and grants of up to $20,000 for Buildings and Facilities Improvements are currently open for application.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan said many community groups in the local area were previously successful in receiving a grant to help strengthen and celebrate cultural diversity.
“It’s great to see local groups getting these grants, so that they can continue their activities and continue to promote the cultural harmony in our community,” Mr Donnellan said.
Applications will be assessed by the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship between January and May 2012.
All groups are checked against the eligibility criteria as well as assessed on the positive role the organisation can have in supporting a multicultural Victoria.
Funding is for programs and projects held between July 2012 and July 2013.
Groups can apply on line at www.multicultural.vic.go.au/grants or by calling Mr Donnellan’s office for an application form or a letter of support on 9706 0566.
