A HALLAM resident said long grass behind his house was causing numerous problems for him and his neighbours.
Mahendra Kumar said the grass behind his house was about a metre in length, and he had asked Casey Council to cut it.
Mr Kumar said the council told him the land, which borders a train line, belonged to Metro. Mr Kumar contacted Metro more than two weeks ago, but the grass is yet to be cut.
He said the grass had become a haven for frogs and feared it could also be home to snakes and could become a fire threat during summer.
“The small frogs have become a problem and jump into our house when we open the door,” Mr Kumar said.
“But I am also worried about snakes and about the grass being a fire danger during the upcoming hot days.”
City of Casey manager of Parks and Reserves Trevor Griffin said the particular property abuts land owned by the State Government and as such, the State Government was responsible for the maintenance of this land.
“The council can assist residents to advocate their concerns to the State Government.” Mr Griffin said.
Metro did not respond to inquiries made by the News.
