ALL it took was an hour of bad bowling for Endeavour Hills to cough up Saturday’s two-dayer against Noble Park at Pat Wright Reserve.
Hills coach John Hayes said his Victorian Sub-District bowlers may as well be bakers after the “pies” they tossed up in the first 15 overs cost his side 100 runs – and eventually the game.
A mini-revival by spinners Hayes (3/43) and Shane Peake (3/110) removed Noble Park’s opening four batsmen, including Ashley Bradshaw (90), within 40 runs of each other but they couldn’t do enough as the Bulls secured a four-wicket win.
“We were very ordinary,” Hayes said. “We had a bad start and it’s hard to recover from there when you’re bowling pies. I mean no disrespect to Noble Park, but we bowled very poorly and we handed the game to them on a platter.”
Although the result was already confirmed, Hayes took solace in his side’s effort to bowl out Noble Park within 76 overs while adding an extra 24 runs in the second dig without the loss of a wicket. – Gavin Staindl
