BURRINJA Cultural Centre will be home to a collection of artworks made by top visual arts students in the Yarra Ranges.
Yarra Ranges Mayor Graham Warren said the VCE Creative Showcase helped celebrate the outstanding work of local young people.
“Not only do visitors get to see high quality work on display, the students have the chance to have their work professionally presented,” he said.
“We have some wonderfully talented young people in the Yarra Ranges and I encourage as many people to support it as possible.”
Bonnie Munday of Monbulk College has three of her photographs featured.
All three photos are of young children, which Bonnie said was part of her study into portraiture.
“I chose to take photos of children because the expressions that children give are the most natural and they’re always carefree,” she said.
While she didn’t expect her works to be put into an exhibition, Bonnie said she was very excited when she was told the good news.
Having finished Year 12 last year, she will be studying journalism at Monash University, with a keen interest to pursue a career in photojournalism.
But in the meantime, she will be furthering her passion in photography.
“I will definitely keep taking more photos because it’s something I really enjoy,” she said.
The VCE Creative Showcase will officially open at Burrinja Gallery on 17 February at 7pm.
