THREE brave Monbulk residents are shaving their locks to raise cash for the Leukaemia Foundation.
Felicity Hostettler will shed her long, curly locks at the second annual SelbyFest on Saturday 17 March at 4.30pm. The 29-year-old hopes to raise $2000.
Monbulk College student Kallee Sas and Monbulk Primary School’s Josh Schimmelpfennig will say goodbye to their hair in front of a full primary school assembly on Friday 16 March.
Grade six student Josh, 11, said his classmates thought it was a great idea.
“They wanna see if my head’s flat or round,” he said.
He will be shaved completely bald and doesn’t think the look will suit him, but said it was worth it to raise money “for the people that have leukaemia”.
His mum, Robyn, said it was great to see people supporting the cause.
“He wanted to do it. It was his idea,” she said.
“We’re just trying to do as much as we possibly can.
“We know everyone’s going through hard times, but even $1 would make a difference.”
VCAL student Kallee is working at Monbulk Primary School and decided to join in.
