BELGRAVE Lantern Parade will warm the town’s heart this weekend.
The event is now in its sixth year and will celebrate the year’s longest night – the Winter Solstice – with lights, colour, music and more from 4pm on Saturday 23 June.
The parade will leave Hayes Car Park at 5.30pm.
Burwood Highway in Belgrave will be closed to traffic for the procession.
Community groups and performers will turn out in force for the event, including the Monbulk and Tecoma primary school choirs, the Mater Christi school band, Gemco Theatre, Ruccis Circus, VoKallista community choir, Sweet Sassafras choir, Miss Lizzy and the Night Owls, Gypsy Trance Belly Dance, Paragon Marshal Arts, and Belgrave Buskers Festival winners Fat Chance Trio.
There’ll be a Rotary sausage sizzle and Dandenong Ranges Emergency Relief Service soup stall at Hayes Car Park, and the Belgrave, Sassafras, and Kallista-The Patch CFA brigades will help run the event alongside other volunteers.
