CFA crews can now sign up for the Knox Fire Brigades Group Torchlight Parade.
Ferntree Gully Fire Brigade hosts the biennial event which will be on Saturday 2 March next year.
Up to 30 brigades from across the state take part in the spectacle, which at least three marching bands will accompany this time around.
The torchlight parade is a Victorian tradition – a large number of volunteer firefighters in uniform or turnout gear carrying lit, open-wicked lamps march through a town or city at night.
The 2013 procession will finish at the Ferntree Gully football oval in Brenock Park Drive, where the Knox Festival will be in action and a fireworks display is scheduled.
All brigades and bands then return to Ferntree Gully Fire Station to continue the night’s celebrations with friendly and welcoming CFA families.
First, second and third place awards will be presented to brigades on the night that display marching excellence and presentation skills, but all brigades will be warmly welcomed regardless of marching ability.
The emphasis on the night will be to show the public the CFA crews’ fighting power and to allow the public to show their appreciation for the never-ending work from the volunteers.
