FOR most people, eating a pizza takes no encouragement, but Emerald CFA is hoping residents will buy pizzas in bulk to raise money for the station.
On the Friday and Saturday nights leading up to CFA Sunday on 25 November, Big AL’s pizza shop in Emerald will donate $1 from each large pizza sold to the CFA.
Jody Yandle from the brigade said the idea was the brainchild of new member and Irish national Robbie Saunders, who is in Australia on a working holiday.
“He thought it would be great to get involved in the community he is living in by joining the CFA – something they don’t have an equal to in Ireland,” she said.
Mr Saunders and his boss Asad Ali, who is also new to the town, decided donating money from pizza sales would be a good idea.
Ms Yandle encouraged everyone to get involved with the CFA by buying large pizzas on the weekend.
“The more pizzas people buy, the more money the brigade will get.”
