A HOUSE in Ferny Creek has been burnt to the ground after a powerful blaze ripped through it this afternoon.
Firefighters got a call at about 1.15pm and found the house in Mast Gully Road fully alight when they arrived.
Almost 50 firefighters from Sassafras, Olinda, Upwey, Belgrave, Upper Ferntree Gully, Bayswater and Yellingbo took about 20 minutes to get the fire under control.
It is believed the occupant of the house was home at the time, and made the call to triple zero.
Firefighters have yet to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
