Sounds from the Outback

THE Outback is coming to Upwey with the Tjintu Desert Band slated to play at the Burrinja Culture Centre on July 17.
The band from Central Australia has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in Australian music, including Goyte.
Originating from Haasts Bluff, about 250 kilometres west of Alice Spring, their sound encompasses funk, rock and reggae with lyrics sung in both Luritja and English.
The band is on the road for their ‘Desert to Saltwater’ Tour to promote their new album, ‘Tjamuku Ngura (Grandfather’s Country)’.
Previously known as the Sunshine Reggae Band, the group has played together since 2002.
Their new name pays tribute to their roots, with the word Tjintu meaning “sunshine” in Luritja.
The band will be supported by two-time Deadly Award nominee “Radical Son”.
Tickets are $20 for adults or $15 for concession.
