POLICE charged a 60-year-old man and 76-year-old woman this morning (Wednesday) in relation to an alleged fatal hit-run of an elderly man in Mount Evelyn last year.
The arrest relates to the death of 80-year-old local sporting identity Thomas Kelly, who was found deceased by a passer-by on Birmingham Road about 7.30am on Sunday 15 September.
The man has been charged with failing to stop after a collision, failing to render assistance, and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The woman has been charged with two counts of accessory after the fact, two counts of attempt to pervert the course of justice and two counts of perjury.
The pair have been released on bail and will face the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.
