THE Hearing Bus is coming to Mount Evelyn to offer free hearing checks for residents at their doorstep.
Manager at Australian Hearing Croydon Nella Gallo said the mobile service was a convenient way to check your hearing and make sure you were in good hearing health.
She said hearing loss was a prevalent issue in the community with around 60 per cent of Australians over 60 suffering from some form of hearing loss.
“A hearing check is a quick and easy way to measure the sounds you can and can’t hear,” she said.
“Our team will also be on hand to guide you through what next steps you have to take in regards to your hearing,” she said.
Visitors of the bus can also find information on a range of common hearing issues and view a display of easy-to-use hearing devices for around the home including headsets for watching television and alert systems for doorbells.
Ms Gallo said not everyone who experienced hearing problems needed a hearing aid.
“Sometimes, it’s just hearing the TV at normal levels, hearing your doorbell, or hearing your friends on the phone that’s the problem,” she said.
The hearing bus will be located at the IGA Supermarket Carpark, 38-40 York Road, Mount Evelyn, on Wednesday 26 March from 9am to 3pm.
No appointment is necessary with Australia Hearing providing hearing checks to any interested adult who visits on the day.
