MONBULK Aquatic Centre member and avid fisherman Peter Duivenvoorden had many unusual glances while fishing in the main pool at the centre yesterday.
As part of an April Fool’s day prank set up by membership manager Amanda O’Callaghan, Mr Duivenvoorden tried his luck at catching some fish in the recently renovated pool.
“There was everything from huge belly laughing to a young boy saying to his mum ‘there is a man in a boat in the pool’ and she not believing him,” Ms O’Callaghan said.
“Most people had a great chuckle and there was a few who took a while to click onto the prank.”
Ms O’Callaghan said unfortunately no fish were caught although there were a few members looking for fish before they jumped in the pool.
“He was fishing from 8am to 11am and nothing was caught – so no fish for dinner for him,” she said.
“It was great to have a bit of a laugh with everyone and there was no better fisherman to pull of the prank than Peter.
“It even confused some of the staff.”
