More than just chocolate

By MONIQUE KUZEFF

CHOCOLATE eggs are not the only things happening this Easter – there are many family-friendly events throughout the hills.
Mount Dandenong’s Sky High will be hosting children’s weeks from 7 to 20 April where many fun-filled activities will be available for kids of all ages.
Over the two weeks, activities will include a jumping castle, face painting, minigolf, pony rides, mini Formula One racing cars, and the exciting annual Easter egg hunt.
Life Ministry Church in Chirnside Park will be also be hosting their own annual Easter Egg Hunt on 19 April.
The event is open to 1000 pre-school and primary school children and for only $10 per child (adults and supervisors are free), the kids can enjoy a day of climbing walls, and sliding down a giant inflatable slide.
Something a little different will be happening outside Chirnside Park’s Kmart this year as a part of the Easter celebrations. Families are welcome to check out the free butterfly enclosure on Easter Saturday where they can interact with the butterflies and also have their face painted as a butterfly. Kids will enjoy the range of fun foods such as ice cream, fairy floss, lollies and popcorn that will also be available within the vicinity.
In Coldstream, Oakridge Winery’s anticipated annual Easter egg hunt also welcomes the children for a fun-filled Easter Sunday.
The bunny will be hiding the eggs at around 1pm, so make sure you’re there at 2pm when the hunt begins.
Local farm animals will be making an appearance at a petting zoo, and while the kids are getting their face painted between 11.30 and 3.30, parents are welcome to sample the current range of Oakridge wines.
Also, in Olinda on 6 April there will be a chocolate making class from 10am to 5pm where you can learn to make beautiful Belgian chocolate Easter bunnies and eggs.
The Cuckoo Restaurant will be hosting a special buffet that offers a smorgasbord swamped with delicious international foods.
This lunch will be held on Easter Sunday where a Bavarian floor show will accompany the lunch and create a memorable Easter Sunday for the family.
