Monbulk Junior Football Club Round 14
A WET and cold Melbourne winter’s day greeted the five teams representing Monbulk this week. The U11s had a bye and could stay at home while the other sides flew the Monbulk Junior footy flag. The U9s opened proceedings at Olinda against Mount Evelyn. Through rain and hail, the youngsters battled on a muddy ground against a determined opposition and again showed great form to encourage those who braved the conditions. Monbulk U10s faced up next against Olinda Ferny Creek in what they thought may have been an opportunity to play football and have a snowball fight, but conditions held and the kids got a chance to display their improved form and attitude. The U12s were welcomed during their warm-up against Olinda Ferny Creek with rain and hail and then the game began with some sunshine appearing. The game was a tight contest with the boys holding firm for another win. They continue to march towards the finals. Heartbreak for the second week in a row for the U14s with a nail-biting contest going against Monbulk. Belgrave Olinda was just a little stronger on the day. Monbulk U16s journeyed to Wesburn and put on a great performance to come home with an impressive win. The two pillars Lachlan Hancock-Wolfe in defence and Ben Watson (six goals) up forward led the way. Final home-and-away game at Monbulk next week.
