SELBY residents were given the opportunity to have their say about sewer options in their area.
Yarra Valley Water general manager for sustainable development, Sam Austin said that 160 customers in Selby were connected to septic tanks and were scheduled to be provided with a sewerage service in 2028/2029.
“While work is being undertaken by South East Water in neighbouring areas, it was an opportune time to hear people’s views on the sewerage options,” Mr Austin said.
“The survey results give a snapshot of what people think and will feed into our next scheduling assessment for the backlog program in 2016.”
The results from the survery were close, with 56 per cent of people thinking that septics were an environmental and or health risk to Selby and just 51 per cent of people supporting the provision of a reticulated sewerage service to property in place of a septic tank.
