LOCALLY handcrafted art will be on display at U3A Emerald’s inaugural Art and Craft Show this October.
From botanical art through to patchwork, needlework and woodwork, exhibition-goers will find endless treasures crafted with love by some of the hills’ most creative residents.
Held on Sunday 5 October from 10am-3pm, the busy show will also include a raffle of three donated prizes included a framed landscape, a patchwork quilt and an upmarket billycart, each made by generous local artists.
From 1pm, a professional auctioneer will take the bidding on four original paintings contributed by the group’s artists while the show also welcomes its first ever bazaar which offers visitors high quality new and second hand goods.
“This year we will be working in conjunction with the Bake It or Grow It market at Emerald Hall,” added U3A Emerald’s Event co-ordinator Linda Andrews.
June Barnett, Judi Roberts, Anne Taylor, Linda Edwards and Paul Bianco are some of the local faces that will have their art on display for the October show.
U3A Emerald opened in 1992 and provides a great outlet for active retirees to be creative, make friends and cross a few things off their bucket list.
“It’s an ideal place to make friends, share interest and keep learning,” Linda said.
The volunteer-led group do a wide range of activities from art to table tennis, cosmology, Italian language, yoga and creative writing.
